the other day I saw the man that saved my fathers life. well, the only one of them that I remember and can place. He lives on the same street as us. To me, he is a great guy.. the best. I saw him at cedar point. I didn't know what to do. it didn't register that he was who he is until it was too late. his roller coaster train pulled away from the landing as I placed him and wanted to say hi. of course I wouldn't have started with "you saved my father's life a few years back.." but instead "hey, I live in scio township, too..." I wouldn't expect him to remember that i was the girl standing there trying to keep my cool and not knowing what to do while he worked with his people to save the most important man in my life. no, I wouldn't expect that, because although it was amazing to me.. he does that everyday..
it's not everyday you look up to find your hero sitting there. I haven't really thought about how lucky I am to have people like this guy that lives down the street. a normal guy with his own family, but one hell of a day job.
I use to stop and think everytime I heard sirens and saw the lights. they're going to save a father or a mother or a sibling.. someone with a family out there. I don't do that as much these days, but i'm happy to know there are people out there, helping strangers.
... he does that everyday...
